I thought the workshop was great. I really enjoyed meeting and working with other educators, and looked forward to it each week. I would have perhaps made it a 3 session workshop with shorter meeting times. I could have used more time toward the end of the workshop for the video piece. The content was practical and resourceful, and I have completely integrated it into my classroom. Joe was a fantastic instructor - very patient and knowledgable. The lab is the most beautiful and smoothly run I have seen in the area! The tour was nice, but not necessary since I ha been there before. Perhaps, though, it is a good idea fopr teachers who may want to consider bringing students back. I certainly will! Thanks for everything - looking forward to more!
This was not my first visit to the ICA but it was my first workshop at the ICA. I have taken other workshops at the MFA and at TEC in Dedham. Prior to taking the blogging/podcasting class I did not have experience creating blogs, web page or podcasts.
The class taught me how to create and manage a web blog and I feel comfortable using it in my classroom.
I have a better understanding for integrating art into web blogs and the tour of the ICA was useful.
The presentation and instruction was great and informative. It would have been helpful to have handouts with the directions for setting up a blog, etc. My only other suggestion would be splitting the class into 3 sessions so classes did not run so late.
I would love to bring students to the ICA.
I would definitely take another educator course at the ICA and I would recommend the ICA to a colleague for educator workshops. Thanks for a great class!
It was my first visit.
It was my first workshop.
Yes, I had experience using Drupal to maintain the Fenway H.S. blog, first time podcasting.
Yes, it definitely increased my comfort level using Blogger with students.
Yes, I have all sorts of ideas for how to integrate blogs into the classroom. Especially how to use it as a tool for online artistic collaboration and sharing student work.
Most engaging: hands-on blog creation.
Least engaging: I was engaged through the whole workshop.
Presentation and instruction was balanced and concise. Nice combination of talking and hands-on work. Joe knows his stuff!
I would make the workshop one day long.
Yes, I want to bring students to the ICA and use blogging as a means for them to explore the art further.
Yes, I'm looking forward to taking more workshops at the ICA. And I will be recommending the workshops to colleagues.
Video production and editing.
Flash. iWeb.
Thanks so much!!
This was not my first visit to the ICA, but it was my first workshop. Prior to this course, I did not have much experience with blogging and no experience at all with podcasting. Now, my students are loving the blog as a form of communication and sharing the artwork that is being created here at the elementary school. My students comments on the blog are both thoughtful and adorable. I also know that many parents, friends and relatives have been exposed to what is happening in the art classroom through the blog. So, this class did do what I intended it to do. Thanks Joe! I do feel like we could have used more time with the podcasting portion of the workshop though. This could be a course on it's own! I did enjoy the class and visiting the galleries and discussing the work was a favorite part for me. Sitting at a computer for a class that long can be tough. I would suggest in the future that you break up the class time into shorter time blocks. I would love to bring my students to the ICA and I would take other classes, but I would be more careful about observing the class times. I hope to work with you more in the future.
